I was sitting today and pondering how long of a time 20 years really is. Have you thought about that lately. Often we might think of 20 years being a long time in a negative sense, like a 20 years to life sentence, or paying off a mortgage for 20 to 25 years. But what about when it comes to investing? Being paid for 20 years doesn’t seem so bad, does it.
What were you doing 20 years ago? I am now 32 years old so 20 years ago seems like such a long time. For me it was before college, university, marriage, kids, and even high school. It was before I even dreamed of working in the solar industry or before I bought my first car. It really was a time when I had little grasp on what my life would be like now.
Now I think about 20 years in terms of investing. What if I could go back in time and I had the opportunity to make an investment that up until now I would be paid every single month? How would that have impacted my life? I know for certain it would have helped when I was a starving student in post-secondary school. It really would have helped pay for lunches at the cafeteria during high school, and I probably would have been able to buy my first home much sooner than I did… lets not mention all that student debt that could have been avoided.
Hindsight really is 20-20! Would I have made a decision to invest in my future if I had that opportunity 20 years ago, knowing what I know now? Absolutely! Of course, when I was 12, I didn’t own my own home, nor have a mortgage or other responsibilities, but if I did, and if I could have made a decision that would have paid me monthly for 20 years (that is 240 months by the way), I definitely would have.
The wonderful thing about today is that we get to make decisions for our future. Have you ever heard the saying “the past is history, tomorrow’s a mystery, and today is a gift, that is why they call it the present”?
TODAY, we all have the ability to make decisions that can affect the next 20, 30, 40 years of our lives, or even beyond that. Perhaps that decision is who we will marry, or whether or not we will act out our thoughts after being cut off by an aggressive driver or just stepping outside of the home and taking the risks that come with that.
If you choose TODAY to invest in solar energy, how will the extra money that comes into your life have affected you and possibly changed your life 20 years from now. Life is like a ‘choose your own adventure’ novel. You decide where you will take your life by the decisions you make TODAY.
I challenge you to choose TODAY to invest in your future. Do it by investing in solar energy. You will not regret the decision like hundreds and thousands who have made this investment before you.
